Bone (especially long bone) have 3 main parts, they're Epiphyses, Plate Epiphyse (Growth Plate/ GP), and Diaphyse.

Normally, humans being more tall as long as the GP not being yet hard cause ossification mechanism. It occurs (elongation bone) until estimate 18- 20 years of age. Actually, a GP is consist of Cartilago, that it will be longer cause proliferating and moved by Growth Hormone (GH). This proliferating occurs so rapidly, to keep ahead the ossification. In adult, the GH will declines. Hence, elongation bone will be stop soon after GP is being so hard at all cause ossification.
